The Athenian Owl coin was the first currency that was widely recognized and used in international trade. It is possibly the most influential coin in history having been circulated widely for over 300 years. It was also the first widely minted coin that placed a 'head' on the front and a 'tail' on the reverse, giving rise to heads, and tails.

The Athenian owl coin was the first currency that was widely recognised and used in international trade. It is possibly the most influential coin in history, both in terms of its longevity (in circulation for over 300 years) and its contribution to the traditions of coinage. It was minted with the 'head' of Athena goddess of Athens on one side, and a 'tail', her sacred owl, on the other.

Delivering graduate training that counts

bdConsulting was mandated by a global wholesale bank to deliver the financial markets component of its International Graduate Programme which comprised some 180 young men and women from 20 locations around the globe.

Our objective was to provide the graduates with the knowledge and skills required to enter the financial markets:

  • a sound understanding of the workings of each product
  • a rigorous approach to risk management and valuation
  • the ability to recognise the benefits and risks associated with financial markets products.

Client-centred case studies were an integral part of the learning process, encouraging the graduates to focus on the client’s perspective, something that sits at the heart of the bank’s culture and values.
